the mountains are calling

Beneath a sea of blue
Honing the crashing clouds
you wait.
A monstrous presence, intimidating
yet reflecting strength and pride.
I want to run towards you
and feel safe in your arms
but my mind begs to differ.
I have to stand tall
like another mountain
competing in strength and pride
never moving.
One can stand tall, but not forever.
Aeons after, echelons pass
and we crumble to dust,
Both you and I.
You could've called out to
me, or I you
But we never did.
Crumbled to dust, like all humans
now and before.
